1980 - Tantasqua scores a phantom basket against Oxford, but loses, 53-51, anyway. With the Pirates ahead, 47-39, Tantasqua's Bob Fountain drives the lane and gets fouled by Oxford center Mark Westall. The referee's whistle officially stops the play, but Fountain continues on, picking up the ball and throwing it in the basket. Official Sam Pawlak calls the foul and goes to the scorer's table to report it. Tantasqua coach Bill Carroll asks if the basket is good. Pawlak checks with fellow official John Collins, who says it is. So Fountain goes to the line for one shot, not two. He misses the free throw, but the Warriors get the rebound and score while Oxford coach Ernie Boss and players are running around trying to call timeout and figure out what happened. The official scorer for the game is Clark student Bill Gibbons, now the Holy Cross women's basketball coach.

1977 - Nashoba's John Beary hits a 35-foot bomb at the buzzer in the Chieftains' 91-63 win over Westboro. It is the final game, shot and basket in Clark's old Alumni Gymnasium.

1974 - Bartlett defeats West Boylston to win the Smaller Schools crown, becoming the first team to win back-to-back titles in different divisions. In 1973, the Indians defeated Algonquin to win the Larger Schools crown.

1973 - Long before his Rookie of the Year days of talking to the baseball and grooming the mound for the Detroit Tigers, Mark Fidrych plays on Algonquin's team that loses the Larger Schools final to Bartlett. 1973 - Leicester High does not apply to play in the tourney that coach Ed Hippert said had become "a losers' tournament. There are several teams in the tournament with losing records and we feel by playing them we have nothing to gain and everything to lose." In subsequent years as coach of David Prouty, Hippert lets his team participate in the Clark, and the Panthers win the Larger Schools title in 1981 and "82.

1966-67 - Westboro High wins two straight Clarks. In the '66 final win over Grafton, the Rangers are led by 6-5 Dick Schonbeck. In '67, Howie Quimby and Paul Scanlon, both 6-6, lead the Rangers past the Indians again.

1966 - West Boylston, starring 6-7 Jud Hunt, Paul Shepard and Les Fisher, captures the Smaller Schools crown.

1962 - Oxford is dropped when it is discovered the tournament application of Auburn, which had a better won-lost record than the Pirates, had been overlooked.

1939 - Northbridge pours in 44 points in the second Clark game ever, a win over Charlton. Northbridge wins the tourney by defeating Shrewsbury, 31-29. Standouts include Shrewsbury's Dave Webb, Northbridge's duo of Jack Foley and Phil Dundas, Millbury's Frank Liubauskas and Uxbridge's Herbert Bridges.
